Book Cover Design Series
Design Statement
For this project, I created a cohesive three-book cover series centered on women of the Civil Rights Movement, highlighting their strength, resilience, and lasting impact. I was drawn to this subject because the contributions of women during this time are often overlooked, yet their leadership and courage were essential to the movement’s success. My goal was to visually honor their stories while maintaining historical authenticity and emotional depth.
The visual concept combines floral elements with an old-time aesthetic to symbolize both resistance and growth. Flowers represent resilience, remembrance, and quiet strength—qualities embodied by these women. The vintage-inspired typography, muted color palettes, and textured backgrounds reflect the historical context of the Civil Rights era while creating a sense of timelessness.
Overall, this project allowed me to explore how design can preserve history, communicate narrative depth, and create a strong visual identity across multiple pieces. I am especially proud of how the series feels unified while still honoring the uniqueness of each woman’s story.
