Letter/Word Book

Design Statement

For my Word/Image Book project, I chose the word “Echo.” I was inspired by the repetition and fading quality that the word represents, which gave me many creative directions to explore. Throughout the process, I experimented with how typography and imagery could visually communicate the feeling of sound bouncing and gradually disappearing. I focused on alignment, spacing, and layering to create a rhythmic flow across the four pages, allowing the word and image to interact dynamically. Although I encountered some challenges in balancing clarity with visual interest, those moments pushed me to think more creatively and refine my compositions. Adding limited color variations helped strengthen the contrast and mood across each page. Overall, I really enjoyed the creativity this project allowed and had a lot of fun experimenting even when I hit bumps in the road. I’m very happy with the finished product and how it visually captures the concept of an echo through type and image.
