Transforming Typography
Design Statement
I really enjoyed working on this transforming typography project, as it allowed me to use one of my strengths—seeing and identifying shapes in both negative and positive space. This skill helped me explore creative ways to merge letterforms while maintaining visual interest and balance.
One challenge I faced during the process was that I initially approached the design more like a logo, where the letters were too closely merged and became hard to differentiate. I realized that the goal wasn’t to create a single, unified symbol, but rather a typographic product where both letters remained visible and distinct.
To overcome this, I focused on separating the letters slightly while still finding ways to visually connect them. This allowed me to maintain the integrity of each character, while also creating a cohesive and thoughtful design. Through this approach, I found a balance between clarity and creativity, which helped me grow both technically and conceptually as a designer.
