Typographic Animation

Design Statement

For this project, I developed an abstract typographic animation that captures the expressive and experimental spirit of 1970s design. My goal was to move beyond literal representation and instead focus on mood, rhythm, and visual energy. Inspired by the bold, flowing, and psychedelic qualities often associated with 70s aesthetics, I used exaggerated scale shifts, soft yet dynamic motion, and fluid transitions to create a sense of movement that feels both organic and immersive. The letterforms of my name were treated as visual shapes rather than just readable characters, allowing them to stretch, overlap, and transform throughout the animation. This abstraction creates a balance between legibility and artistic expression, encouraging the viewer to experience the typography as motion-driven form. Warm, nostalgic visual cues and smooth pacing reinforce the retro influence while maintaining a cohesive and contemporary execution. Overall, this piece reflects my exploration of motion, composition, and typographic structure through an experimental lens. By combining clarity of communication with a stylized 70s-inspired atmosphere, the final animation expresses both personality and visual storytelling within a short, dynamic timeframe.
